To select a radar station, ensure station markers are visible by toggling them on, then click any marker on the map. Operational stations are shown in purple, while offline stations appear in red.
To maintain map clarity and improve performance, map overlays are automatically hidden when radar markers are displayed. To see overlays, toggle markers off.
Reflectivity displays precipitation intensity, velocity shows wind speed and direction. Hydrometeor Classification identifies precipitation types, and Rainfall Accumulation products provide rainfall totals.
Non-precipitation echoes can be caused by birds, insects, dust, ground clutter, or obstructions. This is most common at night or in Clear Air Mode.
Radar data typically updates every 2-6 minutes depending on the VCP. Precipitation Mode scans more frequently than Clear Air Mode.
Radar beams travel in straight lines while the Earth curves, and mountain ranges can block beams, creating coverage gaps.
Spotter Network displays locations of trained weather spotters who voluntarily report their positions. They are storm chasers trained to identify and report dangerous weather.
